image The RC Animal Center Celebrates the 500th Pet Placed by Local Rescue Groups

The Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center proudly salutes the hard work and dedication of its partners in finding loving homes for pets.  Riverside-based rescue organization Save-a-Pet was recently recognized by Rancho Cucamonga City Council for its rescue of the 500th pet this year from the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center.  In a show of appreciation for this positive milestone, Save-a-Pet, which has rescued scores of animals from throughout Southern California shelters during the last 25 years, received a gift certificate to PETsMART and a certificate of recognition.

In addition to the work of Save-a-Pet, the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center deeply appreciates the commitment to animal rescue shared by  all of the organizations that help us improve the futures of our homeless pets. Some of our rescue partners include:

  • Beagles & Buddies
  • Coastal German Shepard Rescue
  • Dalmatian Rescue
  • Southern California Golden Retriever and Lab Rescue
  • Siberian Husky Rescue

image The RC Animal Care and Adoption Center Teams up with PETsMART to Widen the Opportunities for Homeless Pets

imageThe Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center has formed a terrific new partnership with another organization as passionate about animal adoptions as we are:  PETsMART.  Every day, approximately 12 cute and cuddly cats in need of new homes can be visited at the new PETsMART on 4th Street west of Milliken Avenue.  And on weekends, dogs and rabbits from the Animal Care and Adoption Center are also available for adoption at this PETsMART store.

The RC Animal Care and Adoption Center is pleased to team up with this loyal friend to homeless animals.  Over the years, PETsMART has supported local animal centers like ours by helping to save the lives of millions of pets in need of a home.  To that end, PETsMART only offers pets of all ages for adoption instead of making available young pets for sale.

The partnership is off to a fantastic start, with several adoptions taking place every week. When you’re looking for a new pet, be sure to visit PETsMART or the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center.

imageSpring is right around the corner, and that can mean the arrival of countless puppies and kittens born to dogs and cats that are not spayed or neutered.  Shelters all over the county are overwhelmed with too many homeless pets and not enough responsible, adoptive homes.

You can help prevent unwanted births by spaying and neutering your pet.  The procedure brings very real benefits for YOU, such as:

  • Healthier pets.  Sterilized animals live many years longer and enjoy health benefits.  When a female dog is spayed before her first “heat,” her chances of developing mammary cancer is nearly reduced to zero. This cancer is difficult to detect and can spread rapidly to the bone and lungs. Spaying greatly reduces mortality from this and other types of cancer.
  • Safer pets.  Neutered male dogs and cats are less likely to fight and exhibit dominant behavior, a cause for aggression especially towards children.  They rarely roam, lessening chances of being hit by a car and acquiring diseases such as feline leukemia and AIDS.
  • Easier-to-live-with pets.  Neutered males will not mount or spray.  Spayed females will not attract amorous crowds of male suitors to your home.
  • Less expensive pets.  Sterilized pets require less veterinary care than unneutered ones, which are often treated for problems like bite wounds, accidental injuries, reproductive cancers and infections.

Please spay or neuter your pet and help us end animal overpopulation in our community.  The Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center has a voucher program which helps cover the cost of the operation.  For February only normal voucher values will be doubled to $100 per dog and $50 per cat.
