0 Calling All Animal Fans... We Need Your Help!

From providing foster care for baby animals until they’re old enough for adoption to becoming a “Community Outreach Adoption Counselor,” there are many ways to help a homeless pet find its forever home!

We are coordinating animal adoption booths at popular spots throughout the community.  If you have considered a career in animal care or just love pets, become a Community Outreach Adoption Counselor.  We offer hands-on training in matching pet breeds with prospective owner qualities, flexible hours set at your own schedule and vehicles can be provided for animal transport (subject to city approval).

2008 volunteer orientations begin in February.  Please call (909) 466-7387, extension 2075, or visit www.rcpets.info for dates and times of these informational sessions.  It’s the first step in changing the future of an animal in need!

Charles and Suzanne Buquet and RC Quakes Help Homeless Pets

 Community Support Aids Center Improvements

The Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center sends a tremendous “THANK YOU!” to Charles and Suzanne Buquet and everyone’s favorite home team, the Quakes, for their very generous donations that support completion of our fantastic Center improvements.

After weeks of anticipation, the all-new, expanded get acquainted areas are set to open this spring for the enjoyment of pets in residence at the Center. We are grateful to the Buquets for their contribution to aid in the construction of this area, which will become an important and attractive place for adoptive families to interact with our pets. This kind gift from the Buquets, who are active proponents of animal welfare in the area and tireless advocates of finding loving homes for pets, is truly appreciated by the Animal Services Department.

The Department is also grateful to the Quakes organization for their continuing support. Each Summer they host several of our Bark in the Park events which have been enjoyed by many pet owners and their four legged friends and this generous gift which secures naming rights to this pet play and get acquainted area is one more example of the Quakes organization’s generosity to the Rancho Cucamonga Community.

In addition to the expanded pet play area, we eagerly await completion of the all-new surgical suite.  This 1,200-square-foot facility will allow for on-site emergency care and spay-neuter procedures, preparing pets in temporary residence at the Center for adoption as soon as possible.

We thank Charles and Suzanne Buquet, the Quakes and all Friends of the Center for their ongoing assistance with time, talents and financial contributions. Without the partnership of the Rancho Cucamonga community we cannot reach our goal of placing every adoptable pet.  Each generous gift makes possible these and other important improvements and furthers our mission.

For more information about the Center’s needs and the opportunities to help our animals, visit us at www.rcpets.info of call (909) 466-7387, extension 2076.

0Support the RC Animal Care and Adoption Center When You Shop at Ralphs Grocery Stores

If you shop at a Ralphs supermarket, you can support the Animal Care and Adoption Center by simply registering your Ralphs Club Card.  Every time you shop for groceries and swipe your card, the Center automatically starts earning a rebate from Ralphs to help our homeless pets at the Center.  If you don’t have a Ralphs Club Card, you can sign up for one at the customer service desk in any Ralphs.

You can register your card online at http://www.ralphs.com/ccprogram.htm. While visiting this site, select the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center as your charity of choice.  The online form will request our designated NPO number, which is 90255.

On behalf of our homeless pets, the Animal Care and Services Department would like to thank all our supporters who take the time to register their cards online and the Ralphs Organization for its ongoing efforts to support the local community.

0Volunteer Spotlight - Kelly & Craig Wood

volunteerWe began to volunteer at the Center in November 2006 after our orientation in May because we had a little time in the afternoon/evening and thought it would be put to good use helping the animals and giving back to the community.

Kelly grew up in Glendora, California and Craig grew up in Montclair, New Jersey. Craig moved to California in 1979 to pursue a new career and met Kelly in the spring of 1982 and they married in 1983. They moved to Rancho Cucamonga in early 1989. Kelly is a customer information analyst for a large corporation and Craig is a logistics manager for a local grocery concern. Here’s Craig’s take on volunteering:

“We have a 13 year old black dog we rescued from the old Price Club parking lot (in Rancho) 12 years ago as well as a 9 year old greyhound we adopted from a rescue in El Cajon 7 years ago. We volunteer as often as possible, more often in the cooler months. As volunteers we are often walking and socializing dogs, cleaning kennels, feeding, doing laundry, meet & greets, and filling in wherever help is needed. We look forward to helping with outreach whenever possible.”

“We love dogs and cannot understand why so many of these innocent creatures wind up at the Center. We want to do whatever we can to help make their lives easier and as pleasant as possible”

See you soon,
Kelly & Craig Wood
