Alfie (A611085)
Come see me and let your heart lead the way. I am a neutered male, Labrador Retriever mix breed, 1 year 3 months old. Although I am a bit timid, I am a wonderful, sweet boy with medium energy that would make a good family dog. I am people friendly, a real people pleaser. I’ve been here since September so I am waiting for you to help me find true love.

0 Cat Fact

Keeping fur clean and in prime condition is worth a lot of time to a cat. This is because it is essential for protection against the elements and in providing camouflage.

Volunteer Spotlight - Susan Keithly

Susan began volunteering in January 2007 and now teaches dog walking classes to other volunteers. She is an accounting manager, has two wonderful daughters and the proud owner of three shelter dogs.

"Watching episodes of the Dog Whisperer brought out my love of dogs and encouraged me to volunteer. It is rewarding though bittersweet to work with the dogs under these circumstances. Heartbreaking to know how some have suffered and may never have a home, but we can offer them exercise, love and affection.

The staff knows each dog by name as I am bringing them out; sometimes asking me to walk a particular dog they are concerned about. That is what’s so rewarding about volunteering; how with love and affection a dog that was scared will begin to trust you and blossom.  My absolute favorites are the Pit Bulls, so smart and affectionate.

I encourage anyone who likes dogs and cats to come and volunteer. You will bring much needed joy to an animal. I am proud that the City of Rancho Cucamonga supports the shelter and hope they continue with more in the future.  Thank you to the staff and other volunteers for all you do."
